I use Standard Accounts:

Is there an easy of identifying VAT late claims. By Late Claims I mean sales or purchase invoices that relate to a previous quarter but were entered in the current quarter. If we post a supplier invoice on 1st May 2021 that has a VAT supply date of 30/11/2020 it does not appear in the VAT Report for the quarter ended 31/07/2021 because the accounting date is 30/11/20. Equally it was not included in the VAT Return for the quarter ended 31/01/2021 because it hadn't been processed by then.

Currently to identify these transactions and add them to my VAT Return I run a cumulative VAT report from 01/05/2006 to the end of the current quarter and I deduct from that the figures on the same report at the end of the previous quarter. That gives me the change in the cumulative position.

I then run a transaction journal report from 01/01/2019 to the end of the previous quarter and I search for transaction registration dates that are after the date I submitted the previous quarter. I then create a spreadsheet list of those transactions and manually adjust my current quarter Transaction listings to included them.

This works but it is very cumbersome. Other accounting packages I use generate a list of late claim transactions automatically so I wonder if I am missing something..

Hi David,

Currently there is no option in Standard Accounts to Identify VAT out of period. However, this can be done in our Standard ERP in the Purchase Module where you can specify the VAT date and there is a report that shows Back Dated Purchase Invoices
