Named and Concurrent User Issue

Dear Support,

I have one user who is consistently getting this issue. I believe at one point she might have been setup as a concurrent user (this might be a clue). But for ages she has been changed to named user. We have two companies, she is setup as named and as a global user.

The issue being, at times, when she tries to login it says "too many concurrent users your login will close" (or words to that affect).

Is there another underlying setting where the concurrent user setting is being picked up?

Kind regards,
Dil

Hi Dil

It's possible the global user was set up when her person record was set to concurrent. Try deleting her global user record, make sure her person record is set to named in both companies, and then create the global user record again.

Hi Paul,

Hope you are well. Thank you for your quick response. That could be the clue. She was setup as concurrent on the other company and her global user was already setup.

Do users actually need a profile in the other company if they are setup as a Global user? One of things I tried was to delete her account in the other company, she can still access it, presumably as she is a Global user?

I will try the process of deleting and recreating her Global user profile.

Many thanks,
Dil

Hi Dil

If she was set up as named in one company and concurrent in another, that would have caused the problem. Global users have access to all the companies listed in their Global User record, they don't have to be set up as a Person in each company. However there are more parameters on the Person record than on the Global User record (for example Location, Bonus, Number Series) so if you are using these then you will need to set her up as a Person in each company as well. If you do this, you must set her up with the same user type in each company (i.e. all named or all concurrent).

I believe in your case, just removing her Person record in the second company may have fixed it.

Hope that helps.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for the explanation. I had changed her profile in the other company from concurrent to named. She still encountered the issue. I then removed her from the other company. She still got the issue. Its over a number of weeks, it didnt always happen and wasnt consistent.

I have, as you suggested, recreated her global account. Lets see how it goes.

Many thanks.

Hi Dil

Have you had any more issues with this user since you recreated her global user record?
