Dear Support,

We have syarted getting SendM4 error messages. We had two recently from two different users. The messages were:

1. SendM4Message GetThreadSendLevel()1 ac=87
2. SendM4Message gp > gSockIdx = invaild_socket()

I have copied the log files from both, would you like me to email them across to you?

Kind regards

Hi Dil

Do the users experience problems at the time of these messages?

Hi Paul,

Sorry for the delay, I was on annual leave. Yes they do. The error message is difficult to override. Nothing happens if you click OK, we end up closing the error window from the Taskbar, might have to do it several times before we get back to the window the user was on. On a rare occassion, the only way round is to close the whole application using task manager.

Hi Dil

When this happens, does it only affect the person who gets the message or are other users affected? Are there any messages in the server hansa.log when this happens? Which version is it? Is it always the same window or can it vary?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

It only affects the person with the error message.

Hi Dil

Are these errors still happening? Does it only affect specific users? I believe the message is caused by some kind of loss of connection to the server. Does it happen while these users are actively using Hansa? Or when it has been idle for some time? Or when they are in a particular screen or performing a specific function? Are these users on the same local network?

Any extra information you can provide about how your system is set up i.e. where the server and clients are running, operating systems etc. might help to determine the cause.

Hi Paul,

I'll try and give you as much information as I can, if ther is more required please do ask.

The users do get these errors intermittently. Some have got used to it and close the window so that they can get on with their work so I dont hear of every occurrence.

The scenarios can be quite varied. I know one was because the wireless kept losing connection. But that was the only one. The others normally are when they are in the middle of using it. I guess the error message preceding the "M4" message is the most important. It varies and I dont have a recent one (because it hasnt been reported lately).

We are all on the one LAN and all machines are running Windows 7. The server runs linux.

I will try and get users to let me know what they were doing and what the preceding error message says.

Is there any other information I should try and capture?

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

Just to let you know, because the errors are varied and intermittent I think its ok for you to close this ticket.

We know sometimes the error occurs if the network connection is lost and sometimes if there is a problem with a value in a field.

If we get a situation where it is consistent and we cant figure out the source then I will re-issue this query.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards
Dil
