Hansaworld and Windows Server 2012 R2

We moved the Hansaworld service to a Server running Windows Server 2012 R2. It was previously on a server running Windows Server 2008.

On the new server, we fire up the Hansaworld client, restore the backup, all fine. We then start the 64 Bit service, again the service starts fine.
As with the old server, we wanted to install a client on this server to connect to Hansaworld, like we did on the old server but everytime we start the client up with the service running, it falls over and “stops responding”. It will run the client when the service isn’t running but not when the service is running. It’s almost like it doesn’t like 2 instances of the Hansa.HDB file being open (1 on the client and 1 being used by the service). The client is installed in a separate folder to the service so it should work like it did before.

We’ve connected external workstations fine, so the client is all up and running but I just wondered whether you had any idea why we can’t run the client on the server at the same time as the service?

Any tips gratefully received.

Hi Dave,

As it is not recommended to run Client and Server on the same machine we do not guarantee this functionality even though it works for some combinations of versions and servers.

In this case it is likely that this functionality is not compatible with the new server you have started using.
